Description
A beautiful species from the tropical Americas, A. crystallinum is not only a desirable plant for collectors to grow, but it is also used for some breathtaking Anthurium hybrids like magnificum x crystallinum. Larger plants that reach upwards of three feet tall can be quite expensive, especially on markets like eBay, but our small plants that you can buy are extremely affordable so anyone can add it to their collection.
Caring for these plants is easy for anyone that is experienced growing aroids and other tropicals, since they tend to grow on the edges of rain forests where they’ll receive mostly dappled sunlight. Use a loose, well-draining soil – we prefer a combination of peat, perlite and orchid bark in equal parts. You can then add time-release fertilizer to the soil twice a year to provide nutrients. Humidity of 60% or higher is preferred to produce the most beautiful and flawless leaves, but it will still grow in less than ideal conditions. For temperatures, take care not to let the plant go below 60°F or above 85°F to keep active growth.
This species originates from Panama and Columbia. At first glance, you may think this plant is similar to other white veined Anthuriums, but Crystallinum has very distinct leaves that can grow up to 16 inches long and are more elongated with more heavily pronounced but fewer veins.
