These plants are natively found in the topics of Central America and South America, and there are around 50 described species with many different forms and varieties found in a single species to give them a large amount of variation. In particular, there are a few specific types of Monstera that are highly sought after in the horticultural world including the extremely rare and elusive Monstera obliqua and different variegata forms.
